Queen James

LeBron James is a great, great, player.
But my god, what a bitch.
Let’s just cut the bull, and call him out for being the worst actor in the league when it comes to touches, fouls, or hard bumps.
His acting job in the Wizards series against Darius Songalia – an ice-cream soft Euro-whitey with absolutely NO track record of dirty play – led to a one-game playoff suspension of Songalia in the clinching Game 6.
Meanwhile, the price of Marvin Williams flying take down of Rajon Rondo has been deemed to be the same. 1 game. Albeit, the first of 82 largely meaningless regular season games, not the last of a precious playoff series.
If you are the NBA, you have to either increase the suspension for Williams, who clearly was not playing for the ball, and put Rondo in clear danger of dislocating both shoulders upon landing, or you need to apologize to Songalia and the Wizards.
I’m not holding my breath on either.
In the clip above, note how quickly Marv Albert jumps to the conclusion that James was “punched” (Marv does have some backround in these kind of assaults, you know) and also how susceptible to crowd reaction the referees can be in the NBA.
What is most pathetic, is how James plays it up, grabbing his jaw as if to ask: “Gee, do I have all my teeth after that horrible horrible half-slap?”
We’ve come a long way since Rudy T. got his face caved in by Kermit Washington, haven’t we? I’m not saying we should go back to the “Goon Ol’ Days” in the NBA, but this new sissy-cake stuff is ridiculous.
I know where this is headed, and it’s not good. Other players, aware that any tiny “ouchie” delivered to Queen James is going to be a flagrant, or possible one-game suspension, are going to figure it out.
Better get my money’s worth.
If you are going to foul the NBA’s most protected species, then you might as well blast him out of the sky with both barrels. I’m not saying I hope this happens, but if it does, the NBA and LeBron himself will be getting just what they deserve for how ridiculous they both have been this post-season.
