cover_chiles.jpgIn a world of "Zero Tolerance" there is often "Zero Sense." Yes, I understand: NBA players must be very careful not to injure fans. And yes, a thrown basketball, even lightly, can technically "injure." But honestly, aren't we taking things way too far when a marquee NBA player gets ejected at home for something so trivial? Next thing you know, we'll go back to the days when basketball teams were called "Cagers."

cover_vick_mcdonalds.jpgThe NFL's annual "Meat/Meet Market" went down this past weekend in the form of the "Combine." It's a place where every college player of note is supposed to be scrutinized by NFL scouts, GM's and coaches in search of underlying truth about whether they'll ever be good pro players. Some players however, like Marcus Vick, have much more 'splainin' to do.

cover_dugout.jpgI give MLB and the Commissioner big credit for at least trying something new. It took a lot of pulling and pushing just to get this far. And for players like Chad Cordero who are willingly giving up asthma medication to comply to the drug testing for the games, even better. But let's also be real: with this many defectors, the WBC is not worth the trouble.

cover_isiah_plan.jpgThe problem with sports, is that the games are definitely NOT played "on paper." Otherwise, being a GM would be laughably easy. Just plug and play. Throw some money at guys who "on paper" are considered franchise guys. No, assembling a winning team in any sport is more of an art form than a science. And Isiah is spilling the paint right now in New York.

crenshaw_coore.jpgFeelin' a bit golfy today, everybody. Must be the "late February itch" that I get. So we are 5 for 5 on golf related blurbs, which if you hate the sport will make your perusal of today's site much quicker and easier. That being said, there are some juicy things going on in golf, and this sampler platter should give you some good golf cart material.

cover_queens.jpgThere's one thing that most guys I know hate: indecision. It's just too damn womanly. Which is why these four sports "Drama Queens" are wearing on my nerves, and I bet they are on yours too. Either stay or leave, retire or comeback, pick a team and stick with it. Nobody in sports wants to go through all the mental "struggles" you are having. Just do it.

cover_gumbel.jpgAs a white guy by birth, I can say that "my people" have come to accept often stupid little jabs from media members which would have job-losing consequences if you simply switched the words "black" with "white." Ha ha, we get it. White men can't jump, can't dance, and can only dominate a sport like doubles luge. Whatever. Nobody said you HAD to watch the games, Bryant?

cover_weir.jpgSay this about one Johnny Weir, he's not shy about being himself. Of course, he won't say he's gay, and there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe he's just trying to fool that 1/1000th of a percent that still says: "Nah. Him? Couldn't be!" What you might find shocking, is that one Rudy Galdindo is mad at Weir, and the media, for you know what!

cover_nascarbumps.jpgThere's an old saying used by mommies that goes: "Well, you can never be too safe." Problem is, that saying is for mommies, not NASCAR. While nobody wants anybody to take needless risks in the sport, it does seem that we are coming very close to the point of saying: "You know what, if we try to make this any safer, we'll ruin the sport."

cover_si_models.jpgIts cold here in the East, and the snow is still sitting on the ground. But warming us up is the annual Sports Illustrated flesh-fest known as the "Swimsuit Issue." So many hot women, for so many years, how can you possibly pick just five? Czabe tries to do just that, using basic size matches, and his personal favorites. Once you read it, you'll almost surely have something to beef with.

cover_bonnieb.jpg Sideline reporters come and go in sports. Once upon a time, it was a "Golden Age" of babes. Melissa Stark, Bonnie Bernstein, Lisa Guerrero. Now, all gone. Aside from the lovely Erin Andrews, the field is pretty thin of good looking chicks talking sports on our TVs. But what was the real story behind Bonnie's sudden departure? I don't know, but I've heard tons of rumors.

cover_disneyland.jpgThat's a wrap everybody! An experience of a liftime, right kids? That means we won't ever have to go again, right? Awww, who am I kidding? If you go once, you'll get sucked into going again. At least next time I will have a "lay of the land" so to speak. Thanks to everyone who emailed advice, I did read it all, and followed some.

cover_disney.jpgNo, I didn't somehow win the Sportstalk radio MVP award for "Best Super Bowl Analysis" after the game. Sadly, I'm paying "retail +10%" for my first ever Disney vacation. Oh, did I say "first ever" or "first and only?" Kidding, just kidding. We'll go once more in my lifetime. Once! And the kids need to pay for the lodging! Okay. Room service.

cover_mikemike.jpgIn my business, taking calls is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they can be utterly stupid, and annoying. On the other hand, a lot of callers to sports shows make really excellent points. Bottom line, however, is that I think you SHOULD take them. But not everybody does. How come? I wonder why. Are Mike and Mike hiding from something? Or are their bosses afraid of hearing from "the masses?"

cover_steelerswin.jpgThe trophy is just as shiny, and your name still gets etched in NFL history. It doesn't matter that the Steelers didn't author the most artistic or convincing win in Super Bowl history. The fact is simply that Pittsburgh deserved to win by sheer perseverance and character alone. A storied franchise now has another Cinderella chapter. Good for them.

cover_hawkscrush.jpgThe Seahawks have been clamoring for respect all season, so here's their time to earn it. When you have the league MVP and a coach with championship "cred" you shouldn't need to ask for that, but it is what it is. Call it an east-coast media bias, or perhaps the public's desire for more "star names" on a roster, but Seattle is indeed being slighted here. My take: they won't be on Sunday night.

cover_sbimage.jpgThe human mind is instinctively visual. We believe what we see, above all else. And we remember those things well. Watching a lifetime of Super Bowls and the highlights of ones we never did, leaves football fans with the iconic moments of glory and infamy etched in our brains. I threw down a quick and dirty list of images that I can still see today when I close my eyes.
