Okay, finally got around to updating the blog for the week. I've been sort of "out of kilter" this week at the Bahamas, but have gotten the ol' in room internet to work - albeit at, ahem, "Bahamian speed". More on that later. The big game preview post will be up on Friday, until then we're just tearing it up at FSR Superweek I. We wish you were here!

We at Fox Sports Radio begged and pleaded with you to join us for the extravaganza known as FSR Superweek I. But did you listen? Well, since you are reading this now, NO. Maybe next year.
When the mood strikes me to dispose of some disposable dollars on sports gear that I probably don't need, leagues better be ready to have the product I want in stock. Imagine my suprise then, when I found out the NHL's slick new tapered jerseys will not be availble in team colors for quite some time. Come on NHL. Get with it!
How brutal are you allowed to be, when it comes time for crafty in-stadium "put down" signs of the other team, coach, players or city? Well, I found it is a very slippery slope indeed. What might be funny to one, is way out of bounds to another. What might be mildly amusing, could actually be not so cool. It all depends on context, subject, timing, and more. I try to sort it all out...
If it's Wednesday, it's time for the weekly Czabe "brain dump" of random crap. Hope you enjoy. I ask the question: "Where is Big Ed Guns A Blazin' Hochuli when you need him?" Also, is Iverson trying to be Melo's "mini-me" or is it the other way around? I'm still waiting the arrest in the Darrent Williams murder. But maybe nobody cares...
A game for the ages, no doubt. This one is still too fresh to anoint it amongst the NFL's pantheon of pure greatness, but I think that it will age well over time, like a fine wine. Most of today's blog entry was written with the bitter tinge of a presumed Colts defeat, but contains some genuine feelings even with the stunning outcome. This headline, sums it up very nicely!
A glorious Sunday of football, and I hope everybody enjoyed it all. I know I did. Today's blog entry includes my best 800 or so words of random thoughts and analysis from the Bears smack-down of Sean Peyton and the Saints. Tomorrow, you can expect the same from the Colts-Pats game. Oh, what was that? You wanted both today? Hey, what do you want for free!
When Arizona Diamondback Curt Schilling was once asked about whether he was intimidated by the NY Yankees and their “Destiny” and “Mystique”, Schilling replied by saying all he thought of when he heard that was names of strippers......
Lots of states like to brag that they produce the mostest, bestest athletes in sports. And that's cool. What I wondered this week, was what states LOOK the best, when it comes to their outine. Nothing else. Since many teams/schools incoporate state boundaries in their logos, I have been offered up the first "un-official" ranking of all state - by shape, of course.
Time for me to clear out a bunch of little bite-sized random thoughts for you to chew on, argue with, or simply dismiss. From NFL games in London, to Maria Sharapova being over-rated, all the way to the new "Fruit of the Future" there should be something here for everybody!
So the table is set. Pats and Colts, one more time! How sweet that will be! It only happened though, because the Chargers authored perhaps the second worst collapse in NFL playoff history behind the Oilers' 30 point piece de resistance vs. Buffalo in 1991. It took me a full day, but I've got the "goat farm" on this, plus a Bears-Seahawks recap.
A beautiful weekend of NFL action, and it kicked off on the right foot with a strangely intense game between the Colts and Ravens - lack of touchdowns be damned! The Eagles and Saints was a delicious nightcap. I give you my "game notes" on the Saturday games, with the Sunday action due in this space on Tuesday.
Okay, NFL Divisional Round, and I’m pumped. Pumped, because I have somehow found the “pimp-hand” to tell my wife that the scheduled party visit as a couple is officially OFF, as I will stay home to watch Eagles-Saints un-interrupted Saturday night from home....
Congrats to Bobby Petrino, for being the latest guy to buy the Amityville Horror house known as The Michael Vick Experience. You know that won’t end well. But hey, the pay is good, and the time was right.
Slipped in as an “oh-by-the-way” news item a day or two AFTER Gibbs had done his last media availability until the April draft, it was announced that Mark Brunnel would undergo surgery to repair a TORN LABRUM in his throwing shoulder. Estimated shelf time: 4-5 months!
I don't know when, why or how the coaches post-game handshake got so damn important in the NFL, but it's certainly there now. Maybe we should assign "pool reporters" for this momentus event, to avoid the crush of humanity that Belichick The Destroyer had to body-slam out of the way. Once he got to Mangini, that sure was special. Yeah. Sure.
I don't know exactly what made me "turn against" Tony Romo, but whatever it was, I felt oddly satisfied with his horrific gaffe on Saturday night. I explore that thought, along with many other random musings from the Saturday slate of Wildcard Round games. If you want some stuff from the Sunday games, too bad! That's tomorrow. Enjoy.
I've been told, that over the last few years, the first round of the NFL Playoffs has been foolish to go with anything but favorites. Historically, Weekend #1 has been 3 faves, with one point-spread upset. So as logic goes, why mess around trying to sort out which one is the "upset?" Well, all I can say is that gambling isn't supposed to be logical!
Imagine the following. Three members of the all-black N.C. Central basketball team are accused of having raped a white female stripper from Duke, who happens comes from a wealthy northeast suburb. The players, while proclaiming their innocence, watch as N.C. Central’s basketball season is cancelled, and the coach they like, fired. The players and their families are put through nearly a year of hell, and stripped of thousands and thousands of dollars in legal fees.

The Boise State win over Oklahoma is another reminder, why being a sports fan is still, and shall always be, a lifelong passion. Oh sure, I know some people who used to be “big” sports fans, and since then, have fallen off. But I think, in general, once you become a sports fan, it’s in you for life.
The NFL season is over, and this remains one of the saddest times of the sports year for yours truly. How quickly it went. How much I shall miss it. Sure, the playoffs are coming, and I've got my "Chance/NO Chance" list of Lombardi contenders. But the meat and pototoes regularity of 16 games per weekend is over. Sigh.
