US Open React Letters

Lots o' good stuff from readers on the US Open, Tiger, and NBC. Let's open the mailbag....

Czabe,
Tiger’s act is getting very tired and I hate having to watch him. Why didn't the USGA do anything? There wasn't a commercial break that didn't have a ad about the USGA / First-tee talking about the edict of golf and how honorable it is, then back from break, Tigertantrum is acting like a dick.
David Obermann – Kimberly WI

Czabe,
I didn't see Tiger's little tantrum on Friday until just now at your website. What a punk! If Mr. Tiger hit onto a green and had to shoot across this raking of the green, he would be screaming bloody murder and probably want the culprit disqualified. Thanks for putting it on your website. Funny, I haven't heard a word about this "incident" on any of the Sportstalk Radio shows all day today.
Joe Penot - Beltsville, Md.

Czabe,
If you want to bash the US Open coverage on NBC, start with those insipid "essays" by Jimmy Roberts. He and Bob Costas may be the two lamest little geeks in sports broadcasting. They look and sound like they should be on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. We don't need another Jack Whittaker and we certainly don't need any more up close and personal essays. Just show us the golf and get the hell out of the way.
Bill Leffingwell, Rockville, MD.

Czabe,
Thanks for having the guts to call Tiger Woods out for all his antics. He is pretty much untouchable, and 99.9% of the people don't see him for what he is. I am a tennis fan--if you will expose the Williams sisters for what they are, I will really appreciate it.
Hunter Haisten - Indianapolis, IN

What Would Irv Have Said?
Hi Steve: When Bob brought up the other day the things may have been different with Brett had Irv been around, I really got to thinking. Since Holmgren, and likely Wolf departed, and his dad died, Favre has had no one to really fear. Next up, Ray Rhodes and Mike Sherman, who let him run wild. Since he didn't have accountability, he could become more of a diva with no one to bring him down to earth. By the time Thompson and McCarthy came along and weren't willing to let Brett walk all over the team, he had been unaccountable for long enough that he couldn't handle it and resented it. Hurt feelings resulted from him having to answer to someone for a change, and from fewer special "Brett rules". I am very curious how he handles Mangini, whom I have been told by a Jets fan is hated by the players. And, wait till Mike Lupica shreds him by mid-October. Read the NY press, they are building him up and up, and they will love tearing him down. See ya, donkey, Terry Rindt Read more ...
