From Dan Steinberg in the DC Sports Bog.....

But help may be on the way. A new Baltimore sports talker will launch this coming Monday, Fox 1370 Sports Radio, with old friend Jerry Coleman on board as sports director. Coleman will host an afternoon drive show from 3-6, tentatively called "Sports With Coleman," but much of the other content will be syndicated, at least initially. And that means Steve Czaban and Scott Linn's "First Team on Fox" should be available locally, at least to many of D.C.'s suburban Marylanders. (The station has a 50,000-watt daytime signal, according to Coleman.)

For the time being, this puts Baltimore ahead of D.C., 3-1, in the number of sports talkers, which doesn't speak particularly highly of D.C. fandom, although it's fair to speculate that both markets will be back to two sports talkers eventually.

Czaban, of course, continues to co-host the Sports Reporters afternoons on the new ESPN 980, but anyone who wants to hear him on the air in the morning will now have to tune in to a rival station from a rival city featuring a rival national network, which all feels very odd. Will he be able to promote his morning show while on the air in the afternoon? Unclear. I just chatted with Czaban, and asked what it's like to have his local employer promoting his competition, the Mikes.

Praise God!!
Free at last . . free at last . . praise God, I'm free at last!! I've been denied easy access to the First Team ever since Wonder Dwarf Snyder and his crew decided we needed more access to that horrible Mike & Mike show and punted the First Team off SportsTalk 980. I live halfway between Baltimore and Washington and get spotty reception from 980 and Baltimore's AM1300 (ESPN). Hopefully the First Team's new home on AM1370 will benefit all. If Czabe and the first team do get assigned the morning drive time on AM1370, it will be fun to listen to him steal Mike & Mike's lunch again, since he'd be going head-to-head with them. Thanks for the wonderful news!

This is great news. I can't wait to tell Mike and Mike to sit and spin.

I tried out the signal on 1370 from Crystal city VA yesterday and it is loud and clear. I can't wait.

Although, Czabe, you know some mornings you'll be competing with Andy Polley when he does his monday morning QB show right?

In the everlasting words of Cartman: "CRRRRRRiiiippppllllleeeee fiiiiiggghhhhtttt!"

Hopefully AM1370 will be strong enough for me to pick up on my commute for Chantilly, VA to Leesburg.

The belt buckle kid has now lowered himself to the level of a despot dictator by making sports talk 980 a 24 hour all Redskins, all the time station.

Starting at 7:00pmet on 9/3 he started a 24 hour count down to kick off for the Redskins 1st game of the regular season. What a joke! His new name should be "Hugo Snyder" as he has taken total control of the "peoples" airwaves.

Little Hugo may own the license for the radio station, but the "people" own the air waves. Everyone who wants this travesty to stop, should file a complaint with the FCC and request that his licenses be pulled. Enough is enough when you are doing a 24 hour pre-game show for a team that if it is lucky, might win 4 games this season.

I was a Redskins fan since 1969 and this year I am offering my support to all of Washingtons opponents. Yes, even the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants. I will take great pleasure in watching little Hugo's team lose their way to eventual local black outs.

Get an XM radio for really cheap right now, listen to live streaming on the net, or wait a few months a get the combo XM/Sirius radio. There is no reason why you should have to listen to AM static and have computer interference block your listening enjoyment when XM is available.

It is cheap, opens up a world of content to you, including Opie and Anthony channel 202.

Tell little HUGO (love that nickname more than the belt buckle kid) to go screw.
