It's Mighty C-C-C-Cold Out There.....Brrr!

blog_edwards.jpg

To say that John Edwards has been ex-communicated from the Democratic Party is an understatement. That would be like saying Monica Lewinski is no longer invited to the Clintons' family barbeque.

Speaking of which, I just wanted to make a memo to self about how vindictive and hypocritical Democrats can be when scorned.

When Bill Clinton was caught lying about an affair behind his wife's back, every Democrat in the land rallied behind him and said: "It's a private matter leave him alone."

When John Edwards was caught lying about an affair behind his wife's back, every Democrat in the land either ran away screaming, or at best issued a terse "no comment."

Gee, what's up with that, Team Donkey?

I mean, how come you aren't defending pretty-boy Edwards and "private family matter" like you did Billy Boy?

Oh, that's right. He's of no use to you. Got it. Bill still had the reigns of power, and that needed to be protected at all costs.

I got it.

Hey John, next time try surfing the web late at night with a box of tissues. You might still have a political career if you knew how to download effectively. In the meantime, Gary Hart is on line 2. He says he agrees that you are getting screwed.

John Edwards was right. There ARE two Americas. There's one America where you make the beast-with-two-backs with a skank, and another America where your wife suffers through chemo.

Or maybe there's one America where you're John McCain and the New York Times runs with an unsubstantiated rumor that you're having an affair with a lobbyist, and another America where you're John Edwards and you are actually having an affair with a skank, but the mainstream media protects you by sitting on the story until a tabloid forces their hand.

Give me a friggin break!

I might actually listen to this garbage from you Czabe if I didn't remember how you responded to Republican Larry Craig and his Minneapolis bathroom sex.

Back then you said that Republicans have their ***holes too, but the difference is that Team Elephant deals with their problems and moves on.....They don't make excuses for them....

Gee, seems to me that your favorite Senator is still representing Team Elephant in the Senate. While at the same time you're writing pieces like this giving Democrats a hard time for not letting Edwards off the hook.

I enjoy your site, but you are an incredible hypocrite when it comes to this stuff.

Czabe, this coming from a former GOP turned team donkey...at least the Dems are messing around with females. Foley, Craig and the other GOP scumbags are messing around with boys.

I would argue that the reason that the Democrats don't want anything to do with Edwards is because his wife had CANCER! Edwards says the affair happened when his wife was in remission, but most news coverage only mentions the affair and his wife's cancer.

I would argue that you are comparing apples to oranges because Clinton's and Edwards' affairs have different contexts, with Edwards' affair being far, far worse.

The fact of the matter is that both parties will continue to have scandals and finger pointing does our democracy no benefit. It takes the focus away from issues like healthcare, the economy, war on terror, etc.

Foley was kicked out the party and quit on his own accord. Larry Craig has been so radioactive no one touches him with a ten foot pole. Craig won't win reelection as the party won't do anything to help him. Ted Stevens, snake of a different skin, well, we'll have to wait for him to get convicted and forcibly removed before those good folks with a bridge to nowhere find out about him and stop voting him back into office. If you somehow returned about 8 dollars for every dollar you sent to DC I can see how the locals want to keep their gravy train lubricated.
That is very different than the donkeys sending out everyone including old Betty Curry to lie for slick willie.

Now if Pretty-Boy Edwards were a TRUE democrat, he'd go out and and have an affair with another DUDE. Not because he's gay, but because liberals are tolerant of alternative lifestyles.

abnheel Author Profile Page - August 27, 2008 10:43 PM

so damned true superdave that it's hilarious

I do not think I'll be seeing Edwards at UNC games this year. Funny thing this past year; his other seat was either empty of sans wife.

hmmmmmm

sold out Dean Dome and nobody coming with Edwards?

Steve, '...surfing the web late night with a box of tissues...' - great line. But John thought he was 'special'!

And while you're mentioning Gary Hart. I respect that guy because at least he got a nice slice. Some of these guys are risking their careers for chicks I wouldn't do if Humanity's survival counted on it. Donna Rice was amazing. You're the Man, Gary. You just can't be President.

And I agree with tbone - it's because the wife has cancer. She's a figure that gets sympathy. People looked at Hillary and said, "Uh, I think I know why he's cheating on her."

The counterclaims about the Repubs not being hard on their own is ridiculous.

Doc Author Profile Page - August 28, 2008 6:33 AM

JonC, how do you explain Gary Studds (nice name, huh?) and Barney Frank?

Does anyone believe Edwards story that the affair fit into the nice window of time when his wife's cancer was in remission? That's a slick lawyer answer if I ever heard one.

savannahgator5220 Author Profile Page - August 28, 2008 7:02 AM

Just remember you can't spell liberal without LIE.

Mango Author Profile Page - August 28, 2008 7:09 AM

The rational response to this is..."good point". Anything else is nonsense.

Thunder John Author Profile Page - August 28, 2008 12:08 PM

I think there's a simpler explanation as to why Dems supported Clinton and not Edwards...

ELECTION YEAR!

Clinton's escapades occurred in his second term, he couldn't be elected again. By dumping Edwards in an election year, Democrats can appear to have morals. Of course, Ted Kennedy is still there, but hey, kill a girl three or four decades ago...no problem, most Americans have no idea of history. I'm sure that after the election Edwards will be quietly welcomed back into the party.
