I was watching all the NFL promos on cable recently, and one add really had me confused. It's the one with Jimmy Kimmel giving highlights of awesome NFL performances we've likely missed because the NFL only shows 4 games on cable, so get Direct TV and the Sunday ticket. But think: isn't the NFL responsible for marketing of it's own events?

Let me give full credit to one Brian Nelson of the "Bob and Brian" Morning Show in Milwaukee for this one. It is a show I have been a part of as their sports guy for 12 years now, and we started talking about what the hell Brett Favre was thinking when he retired back in March. Brian's theory: "He's clinically depressed." That thought sat there, and I agreed with it then, but I never really latched onto it as THE whole thing with this great NFL player and his life right now. Now, I'm all in. The guy is hurting, and he needs help.

As a Redskin fan, no matter what stupid ass trades/free agent signings Dan Snyder makes, you always here the phrase that “well, at least he’s a great businessman.” I suppose. He is rich. He does own an NFL team. He makes BANK on it. But other than that, what other business venture has he knocked out of the park since buying the Redskins? Certainly not Six Flags. That stock has gone down faster than Paris Hilton on extasy in front of her boyfriend’s camcorder.
