Congrats to Hope Solo and her teammates on winning the gold medal. Do you suppose they will allow her to fly home with them now?

Regarding karma in this case...the player who was still critical and least forgiving of Hope in the SI article was Cat Reddick, who could not play in the Olympics due to a leg injury (no gold for her). The player who "broke ranks" from the rest of the team after the World Cup incident and stood by Solo's side? Carli Lloyd...who scored the game winner.

The black goalie should have at least been allowed to play goal for half of the game. Think about her self-esteem! Maybe we should have let the Brazilians win. Glad we won. But I tried watching some of this, and while I'm no big soccer enthusiast, even I could tell that this was bad soccer.

The announcers were saying that this was the best that the team had played, yet pass after pass was given away, and even with the sloppy play and sloppy defending, there were only a couple of shots from both teams combined.

There really only seemed to be 2 or 3 players (both teams combined) that had any level of skill at all (Marta, Rodriguez, and another Brazilian middie), and after that it was a collection of women that could run and occasionally kick a ball where they wanted it to go.

I'd say even the WNBA is a better product than this. Which is not saying much.

The only negative in Hope being the hero in the gold medal game is the fact that Greg Ryan wasn't immediately fired as head coach of the University of Michigan soccer team, his current job. The Michigan AD should have watched the game, then made the decision to fire Ryan. After seeing the way Hope played against Brazil, and the way a washed-up Brianna Scurry played against a weaker Brazilian team, how could anyone trust Ryan's judgment ever again?

I am happy for Hope.Good call Paul on C.Lloyd.I wonder if Ryan watched the game?I also wonder what team he's coaching looks at him in a different light?

Zabe speaking of snickies did you see the one piece bike suits the Assie womens team was wearing in the Gold medal basketball game?I was rooting for our women to win,but I would have liked to have seen a couple of overtimes.Those Aussie girls looked hot.
