Tears of A Clown?

blog_favre_tears.jpg

And here we go…..

For everybody who had “July 2nd” in the “When Is Brett Favre Going to Crack and Hint He’s Not Really Retired” pool, congrats.

Do you get the feeling that Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson saw this whole thing coming, and were anxious to head it off at the pass?

What I fool I was for taking the man at his blubbering, sentimental word.

Well, now it just becomes a matter of how messy will it get, and do the Packers have the balls to trade him in the Division if they get the best offer from say… the Vikings.. or… GASP… Bears!

Hey, if Joe Montana can leave San Fran, anything is possible. Ditto Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, and on and on.

If and when Favre gets his story straight (hint: My family made me do it!) and extricates himself from the burden of being “Brett Favre, Packer Icon”, he can then get on with being something totally repulsive to the sports romantic in all of us.

He can then be “Brett Favre the Washed-Up, Buccanneer Interception Machine.”

Oh what fun it will be!

For over a year now, I have endured the avalanche of “you suck” emails for daring to suggest he mosey along rather than throw your Packers into weekly 4-INT holes. Well then, how will it feel when he plays ya’ll for suckas and pulls on somebody else’s #4?

(Note: If he does go to Tampa, he might have to ask Steve Walsh’s permission to bring the ol’ Quattro out of mothballs. FYI.)

I stood at full salute for Favre when tearfully hung them up this winter. I said all the things that deserve to be said about his epic career in Green Bay.

But once the auditorium filed out, I muttered: “He better damn well not decide to come back now. Because if he does, I’m gonna rip his ass from training camp ‘til the final gun in 2008 for being such a lying little weasel.

Stay tuned.

Deep down Favre's thinking his last pass was an interception in the NFC title game and the Giants, not the Pack, end up going to the Super Bowl. That pick is bugging him big time, so here we go again.

I wish the Pack had the stones to trade him to Atlanta so he could retire a Falcon. That's where he started.

Big question: Will that little kid break out his natty, stinky Favre #4 jersey and start a new streak?

korn01us Author Profile Page - July 2, 2008 10:13 PM

I knew it was coming. Favre has been doing this to the pack for the last couple of years. granted he has a spectacular year last year. but he ended it in true brett favre fashion the last couple of years by throwing an interception. He is a great QB don't get me wrong. but living in Wisconsin i have had to listen on and on in agony how Brett Favre is God. every pick was just a bad route by a receiver. And finally i thought the madness was done. oh well another year of hearing endless babble about how great favre is.

BerkeleyPackFan Author Profile Page - July 3, 2008 12:32 AM

Everyone just calm down (that includes Czabe). All Favre said was that he had an "itch" to come back, which is what every normal person would feel if they quit doing what they have done for the past decade and a half. Sure he may come back, but let's not hate on the man before he's even off his lawn mower. An itch is just that: an itch. Let's just wait and see if he scratches.

As Homer always plays on his show for Farve news: "I want you to want me, I need you to need me....."

He's missing the limelight and no one is hanging on his "I might retire, I just want to ride tractors, I want to see my kids grow up.....do I have you hooked on me?" mantra. He's old, it's old.

lennyl: Look at his production in the games after the Thanksgiving game (I think it was Detroit) including the playoffs. Tell me he isn't hitting the wall at the end of the season. Is he going to play the first 6 games, take of 7 to refresh, then com back for the last 3 + playoffs?

At least people at work will have something else to talk about besides Kenseth. Yee-f'n-ha

I've been arguing all off-season that the Pack wouldn't miss a beat, because even though Rodgers wouldn't make as many big plays, he wouldn't make nearly as many INTs either. Now I don't know what to think. BF just screwed TT, and AR. I can't wait to see what happens next.

What I don't get, is all the ESPN talking heads suggesting he gets traded to Minnesota. There is no way TT does that. I have no doubt in my mind he won't hesitate to trade Favre, but he still holds all the cards as to where, and it will be to an AFC team. Baltimore, enjoy our hillbilly! Man this sucks!!!

huge Brett Favre fan, please leave and stop talking to anyone involed with the press. Packer fans need to move on, we have three decent QB's on the roster. I can't watch another Favre interception in a big game that looses the game for us. At some point we as Packer fans need to think about life without Favre and that time is now. If he wants to play trade him to a team that will give up their future for him.......

Hermanator Author Profile Page - July 3, 2008 8:49 AM

Favre needs to stick to his convictions - as sincere as I believe they were on that podium that day. In front of his wife, his friends, his teamates and his fans, he poured out his soul about being "done" and having "given all he has". I believed he was done.

Now, was he done because "Ted Thompson didn't respect Brett" as momma Favre and the Atlanta reporter that is the only one who has direct access to Brett's decisions, has indicated? If that's the case - GET OVER YOURSELF BRETT! Ted took a 4-12 team and built it up to a team that was one interception short of going to the Super Bowl. Maybe he didn't make YOUR moves, but YOU'RE not the GM. You are a great player - one of the greatest. But hey, look how well MJ did as a GM and team owner after playing - he thought HE had all the answers too. Being an armchair GM is pretty easy - especially when your ass isn't on the line for your decisions.

Brett was paid a lot of money the last few years - a contract he signed and stood by and even chastised other players for backing out of theirs. So what exactly did TT NOT do to respect Brett? We as fans deserve to know this. If you're going to jerk us around with this "I've got an itch - I may want to play" bit, we deserve the truth. And by God we can handle the truth.

If this goes further and Brett wants to play, I would think TT will say, "Play for someone else." and I wouldn't second-guess him either. Here he has a back-up QB in the hopper that's been simmering to be ready to jump in and captain the ship. He has one of the deepest and most talented receiving corps in the NFL. He has a running back (when signed) that tore up the NFL last year and was a part of why Brett as successful as he was. Ted has a lot invested in Aaron Rodgers and bringing Brett back could erode some of the confidence he has that TT thinks he could become the Packers next QB. Is A-Rodg better than BF? I don't think so. But, would I trade in a good QB with the potential to be a very serviceable QB for one or two more years of having Bret? NO.

If Brett comes back, will we be able to resign A-Rodg when his contract comes up after he's been jerked around this year (and the next possibly) or does he get a sweet contract from a team like Minnesota that is a serviceable quaterback away from being a major force?

All that said, I LOVE Brett Favre. I thank God I was able to watch him play in person and to have my kids watch him play from the stands. He's a classy player that made the game better with his care-free attitude and deep desire to win. For as good as he was, he never stuck it in the faces of the fans with contract hold-outs, public whinings or tantrums. He knew he was fortunate to be playing a game he loved with fans that loved watching him play and were proud to call him THEIR quarterback.

I truly hope Bret takes a long look at his approach on this and makes a decision that doesn't erode any of what he's built up over the last 16 years.

manbearpig Author Profile Page - July 3, 2008 8:53 AM

Another classic Favre move. Indecision, will he retire, won't he retire. how many times over the past ten years has a Packers season ended with Bret at the post-game press conference saying these words "I shouldn't have thrown that pass"?

Indecision. Nice.

Relax...you are all worked up about Brett "lying". As you are aware by now, he has already stated that this was all rumor.

Now, if you want to go after Chris Mortenson and his anonymous sources, please feel free to do so.

Maybe I am picturing a bogus scenario, but somewhere in my mind the story goes something like this...Brett is starting to feel "pangs"....who wouldn't? Ask any smoker that's tried to quit what Farve might be going through not preparing for a season of football for the first time in thirty years? You think he might say to some friends that he is feeling antsy or itchy???

So along comes Mr Mortenson and talks with a few point people that Brett might talk to and voila, we have a blown out of proportion story that is really some poor journalism (maybe good for business and web hits, but bad journalism in my humble opinion).

Get your anger directed to the correct channel and don't always believe what you see on the internet.

You rock Czabe....keep the snickies coming (figuratively of course).

Well I for one will not buy into the whole "will he play, won't he play?" thing.
If he comes back, GREAT, but if he stays retired.... oh well.
And for everyone busting Brett's balls about him "un-retiring," Michael Jordan did it and no one got their panties in a bunch. Hell, Mario Lemeaux did it a couple times. He's even a part owner of the Penguins, and he'll still go out and skate once in a while.

HurricaneDitka Author Profile Page - July 4, 2008 3:58 AM

Comming from a Bears fan in Beer Country I can honestly say I will miss Favre, he was the last player still around that I grew up watching. I can also say that I will not miss his game of "will I or won't I retire." I thought it had all came to an end when my roommates took the day he retired off in observance and 90% of the campus was wearing Favre jerseys they have owned since 1996. His act is tired and I'm sure that most people are getting sick of it. Maybe he should consult Madden about his "itch," maybe he could prescribe some "tough-actin-tinactin." Thank you Czabe for not jumping on with the rest of the media in their Favre love fest.

Favre is one of the greatest QB's ever to play the game. He has done nothing to hold up his legacy as the "every man's NFL player." He is comming off as an attention whore, as if one day totally commited to him on NFL network was not enough. Nobody has their "panties in a bunch" because he wants to come back and play again, it's just the way he has gone about it. He knows the Packers have moved on to year one AF, and Rodgers is having a hard enough time trying to follow his foot steps, now he pulls this crap to further complicate matters. Let it go, he made his descision and now he has to live with it. It is quite obvious that the Packers don't want him back.

That being said, this whole thing could be a load of crap perpetuated by ESPN, it is quite the coincedence that Al Harris just happened to be hanging around the studio in Bristol, CT. It is not a secret that ESPN reaches for ratings during the summer, ex. Who's now, 50 states in 50 days, and now trying to find the new "Title Town." I can't wait to see what town win's so I can plan a trip to ESPN's proclaimed "Title Town."

Sorry this is so long winded but the Favre saga has been weighing on me for some time.

Keep up the good work Czabe.

While I'm not 100% completely sure stories like this will ever go away, I have a theory on it. I don't think Favre has any intentions on coming back. I think either Favre or the Packers organization leaked this "story" intentionally to divert attention away from the statements Aaron Rodgers made to Packer fans in SI last week: "get on board or keep their mouths shut." Have you noticed very few people are talking about this at all since the Favre story came to light? Maybe that's it, maybe it's not. Though I find it highly suspicious A-Rog's media gaff is conviently buried under the media mountain that is Brett Favre so quickly.

wyattj Author Profile Page - July 4, 2008 10:01 AM

I cannot take another minute of how Favre is football and there will never be another one like him. There are hundreds of quarterbacks who throw off-balance, off the wrong foot, thinking they can throw the ball through a brick wall.

Favre is so overrated. He is good. Not great. His mechanics are good, not great. He has trouble with reads on blitzes and will panic and chuck the ball downfield and hope his receiver will find it and make a play.

And I never will forgive him for laying down so Strahan could get the sack record. What a pussy. All this should I retire or play one more year? All he wants the adoration of the fans, begging him to be the savior of Packer land. Bring back the Magic Man if you want a true Packer great.

Bman Author Profile Page - July 4, 2008 10:43 AM

Magic man a true packer great? Favre good not great....... wyattj you are a moron. Favre is a diva, he should stick to his word and quit holding the franchise hostage, but please.... just a good QB!! Drew Brees and Matt Hasslebeck are "good" QBs. In his prime and well beyond Favre was on a different level than guys like that. Favre won more games than any QB EVER!! He threw more INT's than anyone but that was the way he played, all or nothing.

It's also difficult to call a guy a pussy when he didn't miss a game for 16 years.

Chumbawamba Author Profile Page - July 4, 2008 2:39 PM

The "Legend" of Green Bay is acting like a little brat. He's putting the Packers in a situation where they'll look like A-holes. It's as though he's outside Lambeau Field throwing dog sh*t at the walls. If the organization turns it's back on him, trades him or releases him after he's offered another year of "Hall of Fame" quarterbacking, they'll look like jerks. Now, Mommy Favre has told the media that Brett hasn't felt the Packers have wanted him for the last few years. And if he should end up playing with a different team, what happened to "I'll never play for anyone other than the Packers"? Unfortunately, Packer Nation has had too long of a history for never wanting to let go, i.e. the coaching stints of Starr and Gregg. Favre has to go. How long will it take, come the middle of August and #4 gets that, "I don't want to do this anymore" feeling as he said at his retirement? How long does the team stick with him if his head isn't in it? That, and the fact that his cold weather performances have been pretty piss poor over the last few years. It's over. Move on, people.

Chumbawamba Author Profile Page - July 4, 2008 2:47 PM

BTW, there IS NO comparison between Rachel Nichols and Erin Andrews. Erin is the total package.
I also can't wait to see how Czabe's new boy in D.C. turns out. I hope he's too busy being a head coach and let's the 'Skins QB coach do his job. The thing I remember the most about the Jim Zorn era in Green Bay was that his favorite target was the shoe laces of his receivers. Hopefully he won't have a hand in the coaching of their QB's.

wyattj Author Profile Page - July 5, 2008 9:01 AM

Favre had a team around him when he went to the SuperBowl. Excellent defense, a running game that provided him protection for his off-balance throws, and a special team that won him the game. Just because Madden and other shower him with flowery praise doesn't mean he is deserving.

Can you think of more than 2 games that he won single handedly? Think of Elway, then Favre. Who would you rather have on your team?

He did play for 16 years without missing a game. I give him that. Laying down for Strahan will keep you healthy.

Jeez, some of you guys are really ungrateful bastards. Or are you just not Packer fans? Hell, even the Bears fan said Favre was fun to watch.
And if some of you morons want to say he isn't a great QB or a Legend, go ahead. Feel free to repeatedly slam your head into the brick wall of his list of statistics and accomplishments. After enough pounding you too can wear your ass for a hat.
Having said that,Yeah, even I am sick of the whole sorry mess. But we all knew this was gonna happen. You do something for so long, and leave it...and of course you'll have regrets. Does it make those tears any less genuine?? I don't think so. Yeah he is acting a little spoiled. So what? He's still not nearly the diva premadonna most athletes are today, and he did it about three times longer than most of them. Is the man not entitled to his opinion? Seems like we all have one and thanks to Czabe we can spew forth whatever that might be. And this all rests on the assumption that espn didn't make up this whole story to fill some slow sports months.
C'mon now, admit it. Most of you guys wrote these posts the day after he retired and saved em just waiting for the day he expressed regret. Mello out.
I do think the Packers knew this would happen (along with the rest of us) and will take action to head it off. I'm finally getting on the Tompson/McCarthy bandwagon. But forgive me and countless other PackerBackers who think Rodgers is made of glass, and wish #4 gave us another year.
Maybe if we're lucky Ted Tompson will read this thread and see how a bunch of Joe Sixpacks have all the answers. Thanks Czabe.

The only thing I can agree on with dinoweasel is Erin over Rachel. Favre is a diva. What Favre does he want us to remember, the one throwing snow balls on the field, high fiving the refs; or is it the one trying to come back after saying he was done and putting on uniform of someone other than the Pack?

Again I ask, who would you rather have. Elway or Favre? Elway ended his career the way anyone would want. On top. Playing the game of his life. Favre, Kelly, Marino, and countless others didn't go out the Hollywood way. They walked away with the bitter taste of losing badly.

Majic put this team on his back and just won. No prima donna act. Just a man who was happy to get his chance and doing his best. Was he good. hell no. but he used his talents and got the job done. Did he cry and whine that he didn't have the best receivers? No, he just threw it to who was open.

Chumbawamba Author Profile Page - July 6, 2008 4:10 PM

Mr. Legend should be happy with his career and happy he can WALK AWAY from it. In my mind's eye, I can see him putting on the uniform for a team desperate for a 1 year, ticket selling novelty (Houston, Jets, Jacksonville) and running for his 39 yr. old life behind a crappy O-line. Then, if he gets hurt, will he say he made a mistake when he gives his Retirement Presser II?
Btw, why do all of us have to get info on his state of "itch" from family members or Waldo Thumbdick at The Biloxi Birdcage Liner? If Favre wanted to put this whole circle jerk to rest, all he has to do is get in front of a camera and do it himself. I'm beginning to think he's getting a kick out of all this rubbish. He was supposed to golf in that made-for-TV celebrity tourney in Lake Tahoe this month and he pulled out last week. I'm thinking he didn't want to answer any questions.
Btw, btw, I saw a babe named Heather Cox working as an NBC Sports interviewer today during their tennis broadcast. Did I miss her, or is that new Snicky material?

wyattj, Majkowski would be a Packer legend if Favre never came here. His only winning season may be remembered as the last time we finished above 8-8. As annoying as his act is if you didn't enjoy him play you must not like football.

I would rather have Favre than Elway, but it's absolutely a close call. When we lost to Denver it wasn't because Favre played poorly. Our defense got gouged by Davis. Elway made some plays no doubt, But he literally shit all over himself during their other SB losses.

Without Davis, Elway never wins a superbowl. There was no superstar on offense other than Favre in SB 31. Howard was amazing on kick returns, but Favre threw for 2 and ran for 1. It wasn't like our defense shut NE out.

I would love it if the Packers traded Favre in the division, and here's why: We Packers fans let him get away with 4 INT games in Green Bay because of his 17 year legacy. Fans in Chicago or Minnesota will not be so forgiving, and that will be really entertaining to watch.

patentbrew Author Profile Page - July 7, 2008 1:18 PM

Man, you have issues. You try to dismiss anyone that would defend Favre as only being able to say "you suck" in response to your reactionary bile. Though im sure you got several you suck emails it is clear you are blinded by this very bizarre dislike of Favre. Ive listened to B&B for years, including you, but its like you have gotten a bit irrational and probably a bit retarded (hey dont shoot the messenger, see the cited article in here: http://nutrition.about.com/b/2006/10/16/weight-gain-intelligence-loss.htm with the extra 60 or whatever pounds you put on. I do disagree with others that say you are a Favre hater (though in spirit I agree with them, you bash him without abandon whenever there is a sliver of opportunity), I think you are simply jealous given the state of affairs with the redskins, especially at QB. That youre so transparent with it is flat out odd, especially for a national guy -- Simmons is less transparent, how can that be?!

The fact that you defend a guy like Ted Thompson makes the case. You bash TT as Slingblade (yeah, you are comparing mannerisms, but you havent noted anything hes done that you like), yet when its convenient to take shots at BF, youre all buds with TT. Nice. For the record TT is primarily at fault in all this. He wanted to go with his guy A-rod and essentially made it clear he didnt really care if BF came back or not. Uh, this is maybe the best player to play for probably the top NFL franchise (again, dont shoot the messenger:
http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/11_2260_A+CHFF+epic:+all-time+franchise+rankings.html)
and this is the treatment he gets the year after the team gets beat in the 4th quarter in the NFC championship game . . . by the eventual super bowl champ?? Slingblade indeed. Ya know, TT has made a couple of good moves (e.g., mccarthy, woodsen), but he squandered having favre, and has been such a dingbat on so many other fronts, that he is basically just a dolt. To wit, not getting the Randy Moss deal done in '07 was the single biggest blunder in Packer GM history. And the worst part is it was a very large eff-u to franchise hero BF. I will go to my grave believing the Packers would have won super bowl XLII if that deal gets done. Was Randy (not unlike Favre by the way), a bit of a preening peacock who wanted to feel wanted and get his butt kissed? Sure, but guys like Moss (and Favre) bring the goods, and therefore sometimes franschises/GMs have to kowtow to them to reach the ultimate goal. Not TT. What a debacle.

Anyway, my theory is your transparent jealously does not apply only to the packers, it applies to all sports associated with the state you do a short morning segment for, no matter how pedestrian Wisconsin sports can be. Sorta confusing, yes, but I think I understand why. Youre in big bad DC and are simply PO'ed that Milwaukee/Wisconsin is more relevant in the sports world right now. Your reaction to the CC Sabathia trade should be interesting.

Until I see or hear Brett, not "sources" telling everyone that he is coming back then this is a non-story. And another thing if Czaban and other members of the media are "tired" of reporting this story then don't do it.

Czabe - As the weather warmed up a bit, and after Brett had made his announcement to the World, a close friend (USAF buddy) told me he had run into a few of the more seasoned players down at the fishin hole where I used to live in SE Wisconsin. It's an out of the way place where they won't get hounded for autographs, photos, etc., so they go there when they can. Fishin' ain't bad, either.

Their remarks were more to the "Ted Thompson won't help out Brett, so why hang around" flavor. Up until that point, I had always been ready to define Brett's retirement based on what he told the camera. At first, I didn't quite believe what I was being told - but, there you have it. Truth is, the Locker Room for any Sports Team probably isn't much different than any School Cafeteria (jocks, geeks, nerds, etc) and some will always be "in-the-know" and others never will be. That's just how it goes! So, sometimes you wonder if the gossip is just that, or not.

For now, Brett has texted someone else, this is just all rumors and nothing more. You mention he has a CBA angle which merits some sort of profit margin, for Brett versus the League. Okay, if that's what's about to happen now, then (sure) Brett would say "It's just a rumor". I can tell you that Scott Favre has spoken outta turn more than once and leaves me suspicious to this day whenever the Press quotes him. Others may have a different opinion.

I think he truly did believe what he was saying "at the time" when he retired. Had others been able to sit with him prior to his announcement, being somehow alerted of what he was about to do, and then given Brett more info on his real position (?) within the structure of GBP and the NFL, maybe Brett wouldn't have had that Press Conference after all. Who knows!

At this point, it's all conjecture, all just suspicions.

Personally, with a handicap like what Favre has on the Golf Course, I think he oughta go give Tiger Woods a run for his money. He could easily handle another 17 years out at Augusta. Would you not agree?

As far as football - to me, this is about getting more than just one SuperBowl Ring; This is about having his stats prove his more than just another Joe Namath or a Trent Dilfer. My friends and I have counted the number of times the Packers could have won, like most football fans of any team will do. There's SB32 (DOH). There's the Jerry Rice FUMBLE in 1998, which was handled horribly by (some suspiciously corrupt Officiating?). How about 2003, let alone 2002. This is definitely NOT about that last pass, which ended up being an Interception. Brett's never that cheap.

Yea, yea, I get it that this doesn't count. The point is Brett has been in position several times to get that other ring, only to have it taken away from him by the Head Coach. JMHO, nothing more!

If he comes back, and fails, the Press will hammer him. For the most part, the Press really doesn't like Green Bay anyway. They promote Adrian Peterson til it's a BAD commercial. Yet, Green Bay's stats somehow don't count. AP has amazing stats in a game against some AFC opponent and the drone becomes white noise. Yet, how did AP handle playing at Lambeau? Curious how the Press and censorship are never far apart.

I'll alway admire Brett Favre for everything he has brought to the game. A hoo-ha standing ovation for the guy (especially when he grabbed Chris Hovan's facemask that one time - bring it on). I just think his physical status has endured enough and he's earned the right to relax. Brett's done the one thing that even Joe Montana could not do - and that's make all fans appreciate watching a true talent play the game. Whether you like the Gunslinger approach or not, it keeps your eyes glued to the TV screen, totally mesmorized.

Good Luck, Brett on whatever decision you come to!

Go Packers / Go IPB

If Favre does come back I am going to do a Class Action lawsuit against him for all that money i wasted on the Sports Illustrated Tribute issue memorabilia I bought.

Please Brett - do the right thing. Do not come back. Otherwise your whole retirement speech was a sham.

Good morning. Many time email, long time listener, love the show great topic. Bob and Brian rule. You guys are our of your minds. So Favre is a drama queen. Every off season he wants attention. He wants the media circus. He wants to act out in public. So what. Let me remind you of a few facts in this story.

1.No one is dead
2.Favre didn’t show up to the training facility in blood stained clothes.
3.No fights at strip clubs
4.He wasn’t caught having sex with hookers on a lake in Wisconsin
5.None of Favre’s “possie” are under indictment
6.No dogs or animals have been hurt
7.No one has been arrested for domestic battery
8.No one has been caught with drugs
9.No one has been caught juicing
10.No one is filing sexual assault charges
11.No one has been arrested period
12.No one is under indictment for tax evasion
13.This wouldn’t have made an episode in “Playmakers”
14.Scott Hunter, Jerry Taggie, Anthony Dilweg, Blair Kiel and all the other donkeys between the Starr and Favre eras.

So he’s a pain in the ass from January – the start of training camp. Division titles by the handful, 3 time MVP, championship games, 2 Superbowls, one title, I could go on and on. Its Brett Favre, the greatest football player to walk the earth. So he’s a pain in the ass.

We listen to all the sh*t about Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and all the idiots in Hollywood. No one is telling them to go away. Let him bitch and moan. Let him create a media circus. I love talking about how great Brett Favre is.

Later this month give him his jersey back and let’s win the Super Bowl this year.

What Would Irv Have Said?
Hi Steve: When Bob brought up the other day the things may have been different with Brett had Irv been around, I really got to thinking. Since Holmgren, and likely Wolf departed, and his dad died, Favre has had no one to really fear. Next up, Ray Rhodes and Mike Sherman, who let him run wild. Since he didn't have accountability, he could become more of a diva with no one to bring him down to earth. By the time Thompson and McCarthy came along and weren't willing to let Brett walk all over the team, he had been unaccountable for long enough that he couldn't handle it and resented it. Hurt feelings resulted from him having to answer to someone for a change, and from fewer special "Brett rules". I am very curious how he handles Mangini, whom I have been told by a Jets fan is hated by the players. And, wait till Mike Lupica shreds him by mid-October. Read the NY press, they are building him up and up, and they will love tearing him down. See ya, donkey, Terry Rindt Read more ...
