Two Dunks, Does Not A Revolution Make

blogpic_sparks_dunk.jpg

This was the Yahoo blurb that appeared on Monday. I found it particularly hilarious that the editor made a point of calling the dunk by Candace Parker "extremely" rare. Was that an extra elbow shot to the ladies ribs? I hope not.

Anyhow, I took the liberty to mock up the Yahoo front page I would have LIKED TO SEE after this staggering non-event. It would have gone something like this.

My colleague Andy Pollin made a good suggestion. Instead of celebrating these once-every-Haley's-Comet dunks, go the other way. OUTLAW the dunk in the WNBA. That way, you are going out of your way to devalue the thing which critics constantly bash you over the head with. Not a terrible idea.

hysterical. This segment was brought to you by Black Men. Black Men, proving size does matter for over 1 million years...

anywhoo,, for those text messengers who gave Czabe a hard time on the show today ((June 24))via the text message, I also have this message for you...

"YOU DON'T LIVE IN CLEVELAND, YOU LIVE IN TEXT MESSAGING LAND.." -- Sam Wyche

...he only does 19 hours of radio a day. I think hes done something right. I for one thought the Doug Christie interview was loaded with great questions, and even a good Al Gauldi jab.

Czabe you outta post a 1st team photo one day, so we can see what the rest of the boys look like.

Those WERE NOT dunks.

The WNBA still exists?

The Doug Christie interview I could have done without. Was that Scott's idea of a practical joke before he left for vacation. He's probably laughing his ass off wherever he is.

Czabe's right, these are bad times in the sports calendar.

Czabe... "Who gives a fuck? Yes: 8%. No: 92%." After listening to the First Team on Fox this morning, I guess we can put you in the "Yes: 8%" Camp.
Are you kidding me? WTF! You must have spent at least 20 minutes this morning on the WNBA... and how the 0 - 13 Atlanta team is still drawing... and the cute team names... and how they mirror the same city's NBA team names... ENOUGH!!! STOP THE INSANITY!!!
I understand that we're in the "71 Days of a vacum of sports material". I understand that the NBA Finals are over, there's no real NFL angle, college football hasn't ramped up yet and Tiger has to have his leg amputated. PLEASE, find something else to talk about. Anything. Talk about the freaking slaughtering of the gorillas for crying out loud... or even Nascar for that matter. Just, please don't waste our time with WNBA chatter. I don't think I can tolerate listening to 'Mike and Mike.'

All is not lost. Tonight is the NCAA baseball championship game. Fresno State vs Georgia. Nothing quite like the ping sound of ball meeting aluminum bat.

But wait, there's more: David Beckham and his circus coming to RFK this Sunday to play DC United and the Orioles vs the woeful Nats this weekend at Nats Park.

Then we have the Tiger-less tournament at Congressional the week of July. Czabe has to get some material out of this.

I think that Czabe 3.0 is like the WNBA's of websites... Bring back Czabe 2.0

What Would Irv Have Said?
Hi Steve: When Bob brought up the other day the things may have been different with Brett had Irv been around, I really got to thinking. Since Holmgren, and likely Wolf departed, and his dad died, Favre has had no one to really fear. Next up, Ray Rhodes and Mike Sherman, who let him run wild. Since he didn't have accountability, he could become more of a diva with no one to bring him down to earth. By the time Thompson and McCarthy came along and weren't willing to let Brett walk all over the team, he had been unaccountable for long enough that he couldn't handle it and resented it. Hurt feelings resulted from him having to answer to someone for a change, and from fewer special "Brett rules". I am very curious how he handles Mangini, whom I have been told by a Jets fan is hated by the players. And, wait till Mike Lupica shreds him by mid-October. Read the NY press, they are building him up and up, and they will love tearing him down. See ya, donkey, Terry Rindt Read more ...
