I hate that SOB Snyder. HATE him with a passion even more now that he's done this. How can he take a local talent as yourself Czabe and move in a pair of knuckleheaded nitwits to take your spot? Part of me can hope the effort fails like his takeover of Six Flags (How's THAT working out for you, Danny?) and another part says no because you and Scott are employed by that station in other capacities and I'd hate to see you both out of a gig as a result of that station failing.

I have XM and listen faithfully to the First Team Daily but there are friends of mine who don't have XM who are regular listeners and are pissed. One of your regular callers in the AM told me he was getting XM today and was scrapping listening to WTEM.

I have a feeling this little dictator isn't done yet. He wants to control what is said about his precious football team so he will monopolize the sports talk on the DC airwaves. However one thing he can't hide from is how crappy 4-12 looks on the field.

Hang in there Czabe, Scotty, Galdi, Sully. You have the best sports show on radio and it's a pleasure to listen to you each day.

I've never heard your national show, but I have, unfortunately seen/heard M&M on their Tv simulcast, and as I can pretty much handle Greenberg, Golic to me, is like an infected hemmoroid. He's as irritating as that sound that Jim Carey made in "Dumb and Dumber" when they were in the truck that looked like a dog and he asked Jeff Daniels if he knew what the most irritating sound in th world was. But, Golic has great timing, because he excells at saying "on ESPN radio" right on cue. F*ck both of them, I say.

People out of the DC area can go to www.dcrtv.com and skim the news and mailbag sections to see why I was teeing off on Dan Snyder. His Red Zebra company, which owns three radio frequencies you can barely hear, bought Sportstalk 980 effective July 1.

The Belt Buckle Kid is intent on turning the Redskins into the St. Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals - i.e., the team the rest of the NFC East gets two cheap wins off of every year. But he doesn't want to face the heat while he is dismantling the goodwill of this storied NFL franchise.

Now he's going to take one of the two strongest shows on his "flagship" station, and replace it with lame, non-local M&M pablum. Czabe, I hope you (and Andy, Doc and Brian Mitchell) continue to call out his nonsense. What in the name of Ken Beatrice is going on?!

Denver monkey gives you 1 hour (4am-5am). thank goodness for online streaming and especially the replay at 10am my time. Terrestrial radio will be a graveyard, stick with XM/sirius and online.

Well that sucks just about as much as MnM do. You guys talk about what matters, sports, stupity in sports, electronics, and the stuff from ther past that makes chuckle. MnM (the last I listened to them) talk about hot dog eating contests, babysitters, and their lives sheltered from reality.

I was just thinking the other day about how much I actually the 4 letter network. It's becoming less and less every week. When they started airing MnM (A RADIO SHOW) in the morning I knew they were the new MTV. So many of many of my favortie sportscasters have become robots in repeating the same garbage after the last 15 years. And now they start farming out some of the best to ABC telecasts to try and save some of those shows.

When's that merger happening so I can get you on Sirius?

The tragedy here as a sports fan is that DCers don't even have a local morning radio show anymore.

After you came over to 980 morning my life has been happier for the drive. Mike and Mike flat out suck! I knew when Danny purchase WTEM and the other stations it would be over for you because ties with FOX and his with ESPN. Is your show the only one effected and does this mean that the Redskins will play there games on 980?

I had a feeling the belt-buckled boy wonder would eventually f-up WTEM. To replace Czaban's morning team with Mike & Mike in the morning is like serving us a 7-11 hot dog after we've gotten used to steak and lobsters at the Palm. Mike & Mike aren't horrible, but there is no real reason to listen to them. Czabe and the gang have the best sports radio show in the country. Great topics, funny, not afraid to tell it like it is vs. a** kissing players/owners/networks/etc. So what happens to Doc Walker and Brian Mitchell when they break down the Redskins game performances on Mondays this upcoming season? Will Danny Boy fire them for telling the truth. All Snyder has done is weaken/dismantle the station he just purchased and FYI the WTEM signal is not strong in the evenings. The WTEM signal will be fine for 1pm games, but not the second half of 4pm games in the late fall and winter. Snyder you're a dope. You've now bought 4 radio stations, but none have a good signal. He should have left well enough alone and kept Redskin games on WJFK (FM 106.7) with a strong signal so the fans could listen to the games. I'm sure he could have sold radio game rights to WJFK or some other good FM station for a reasonable fee. But no, Danny Boy has to try and squeeze every last dollar out of Redskin Nation and own the radio stations and the broadcasts. Danny Boy doesn't care about the fans, he cares about making money off the fans. I hope he loses his ass on these radio stations. I am a former Redskin club level season ticket holder who decided Dan Snyder isn't going to bend me over a log just so I can watch a football game live in Landover.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on Snyder in my earlier post (I've got almost ten years of frustration from his 'Skins ownership pent up) and I should have vented more at ESPN. I'm willing to bet his Red Zebra company could have done more to have kept The First Team on 980.

I've pretty much given up on all things ESPN, from their expensive restaurants to their crappy magazine but I still watch some of their live programming like golf and baseball. It's tough to stomach sometimes, especially with Chris Berman.

As soon as Coach and Al sign off at 4:00, do I get an update leading into a "Best of" Sports Reporters? No! I get a GD "404 Not Found" error where my 980 stream used to be. WTF!? I then backtrack my browser to the sportstalk980.com homepage and what do I get? ...the GD triple x espn radio homepage has been cloned right over the 980 servers! Man, this effin SUCKS!!!

Snyder Removing your 980 am show is lunacy. Why does the Mike and Mike show have any relevance to DC listeners?
The great thing was your 'National' show still had a great local flair for the DC audience. You also were able to overcome the 980 signal that is down right awful and still get guys like me to listen thru static and interferance through out the day. Comparing 980's signal and potential audience to any other signal except Snyder's previous stations is ridiculous.

My XM is the saving grace but you and Andy will now be forced to toe the line in the pm slot.

Well, that didn't take long! I'm strongly resisting the urge to go on an extended, hate-filled rant regarding Snyder and his monopolization of local media outlets to control "the message." Stalin, or even Putin, anyone?

After I recently realized I could no longer stream Sports Reporters, I about lost it. That was easily the best sports talk show I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of them. It was such an escape from the "yell about everything, no matter how small" genre. M&M are so bad on so many levels. And the entire espn radio lineup is just bullshit. I hate espn and what they've done to sports.

Steve, I want to thank you for the wonderful laughs and insight you and Andy gave me over the years streaming your show from Raleigh. While I liked your morning show, the Sports Reporters was an absolute cut above all the other blather out there. The chemistry and content was just terrific. The way you used to tweak Andy on things, annoying the hell out of him, always had me laughing so hard people would ask me what was so funny. Good times.

I truly hope you will keep the blog going so I will have some place to vent my increasing frustrations with sports broadcasting (I think Mushnick is growing weary of my constant rants).

Being here in Raleigh, I'm "out-of-the-loop" on local DC radio happenings. Please keep us posted. One of my main goals in rebuilding my life is to play a round of golf with you at some charity tooney. Some shows are rerun late at night, but for us late risers, I love the reload..the only drawback is I can't text or call in my stuff...as an air traffic controller,I work straight nights till 11 pm, and the reload is my 2nd best stress reliever to start my day off...also , aside from the fact I love my LG HDTV I won from the first team 2 years ago...keep it pumping Czabe, Scotty, Lo-Def...I got your backs bro...

Wow! I hate ESPN even more after this. I'm not a huge Skins fan, but I think I can learn to hate Danny as musch as the die-hard Skins fans. Listening to M&M are like listening to finger nails on a chalkboard, their schtick is as lame as it gets. Glad I still listen to you here in Central Va, but if DC can lose First Team, who knows?

Another pathetic aspect of this change is that I when I visit places like LA, Fairmont WV and the Jersey shore, the First Team still comes in loud and clear. BTW, if you live in Loudon Co or west, the signal from 610 Winchester comes in fairly well (after dawn). It's weak in western Fairfax.

I am currently on vacation out West and I tried to listen to some of my favorite Sportstalk980 shows online and I noticed I couldn't listen live anymore, then it dawned on me that the guy with the Napoleon Complex bought the station so he could monopolize all the radio media that would say anything negative about him and his running of the Redskins. If this guy knew what he was doing, he wouldn't have to buy so many radio stations to cover the Washington DC metro area. I sincerely hope that Czabe is going to be back on a local station in DC soon. This latest move by Danny boy seemed so pointless. I urge people to not go to Johnny Rockets, Six Flags or anything else associated with Dan Snyder. As a lifelong Redskins fan, I have to say it breaks my heart that a guy like Snyder owns the team and is more interested in making money than in winning championships. I also hope this Jason Taylor trade works out, but based on track record...it probably won't. Keep up the good work on the First Team Czabe.

OK Dan, I understand you are trying to build a brand around the skins with various multimedia formats but what sense does it make to have the same show running on two stations when you could provide some diversity and probably garner more overall listeners. It just goes to prove what people have been saying about Snyder ever since he bought the skins..."He's is a arrogant little Napoleonic prick who doesnt understand the people of Washington, Skin's fans or Sports in general". I've got to be in a minority because I can understand why, if Redskins Radio (Red Zebra) wants to have the bulk of ESPN syndication rather than Fox (for ratings and/or revenue), that they can't have both Czabe in the morning followed by ESPN. it's simply a matter of business sense.

If Fox's First Team is that good a show (and not everything I'm looking for on morning radio is something that needs to be "teed off" on, fearlessly or otherwise, or something I can take with me to a bar at night), then there should be a good chance that another local station could and will pick up the syndication.

And even if I can't get Czabe and the First Team on Fox on local, over the air broadcast radio, I can get it via XM radio or on any number of radio stations on the internet, including:

Not everyone can get every show that they want, and I don't listen to the First Team on Fox because it's a local DC area show; it's not. It's a national show and if they only covered DC, I'm sure that people in Cinncinati, Dallas, New Orleans, and Boston would be upset with the show and not listen to it. I try to listen to the show for sports coverage.

Sorry, but there are a lot of ways I can listen to the First Team on Fox and Czabe, and I understand that it's business first and foremost. As Czabe himself said, neither Mike and Mike or First Team are tearing up the local market; if ESPN is the bigger overall syndication, and ownership wants a syndicated morning drive time show rather than a local show, then it makes business sense (like it or not) for Red Zebra to have Mike and Mike; otherwise ESPN wouldn't give them the night and/or weekend ESPN syndication package.

If Red Zebra radio thought that Fox would give them better overall ratings and revenue, I'm sure you'd have First Team on Fox, Dan Patrick, and the rest of the Fox Sports Radio syndicated package instead of ESPN.

Regardless of what I think of Mr. Snyder and how he runs the Redskins or any of his other businesses, it's a business and he can run it as he wants. When I, or any of you, have the money to buy a radio station, then I can put on Mr. Czaben. Like it or not, it's that simple.

And, since Mr. Czaben is still on the First Team on Fox, still able to be received in a number of ways, and still on the afternoon Sports Reporters show, I'm not complaining that loud.

This really sucks!! I used to be a M&M guy and it took a long time for me to wake up and realize you aren't just a pissy guy - but a REAL sports fan with REAL opinions. Now, I can't get enough of your team in the morning and the Reporters in the afternoon.

Sure, I can listen to you on XM - but not when I wake up and get in the shower. It was bad enough not to hear you last week, but those voices in my head this morning...ugh..when I realize it was M&M I nearly died. A little part of my hapiness was chipped away. Thanks Snyder!! And too think it was timed perfectly with the Jason Taylor trade (hmmm..conspiracy??)

My fear is we've lost you in the morning and either by choice or force - the Reporters will be gone in the afternoon. I know you know how much we love you hear..I hope you don't do something stupid and go work in Milwaukee again :). I hope someone gets smart and gets the gritty Fox Sports Radio back up in DC. If you want to listen to Czabe via XM at home, there are portable radios that receive XM that can be used at home or in your vehicle. And there are both portable and desktop internet radio receivers that pick up internet stations (the live broadcasts from local radio stations) that broadcast Czabe's First Team on Fox.

Saying that you can't listen until you get into your car is an excuse for not listening, just as saying that it's not fair that you have to have Sirius to listen to Howard Stern. If you want to listen to Czabe, you might have to make a little effort; but if you think it's worth it, then do and quit complaining. He's still being broadcast.

The weekend golf show is gone too!

If you want the weekend golf show, instead of complaining here, e-mail the station and be rationale in saying why you want the show brought back. As long as it's not a Fox Sports Radio show (since the stations are now broadcasting syndicated ESPN shows on the weekend and weekday evenings/overnight/morning, if there's a market for the show, an audience that will listen and support the advertisers, they'll consider putting it on.

Remember. It's a business; they'll broadcast what pays the bills and makes a profit. And they currently feel ESPN, rather than Fox Sports Radio (the First Team on Fox - Czaben in the morning notwithstanding) will bring in a larger audience they can market to potential advertisers. If enough people convince them a local golf show (with Czaben) will do better, audience and market-wise, than syndicated ESPN on Saturday mornings, they'll broadcast it (unless they're contractually unable to).

I call Mike & Mike the Sesame Street of Sports Radio...only children and retards listen to it.

Screw DC and M&M. Keep up the good work. Catch you guys local in Austin, TX for 1 hour, then I switch over to XM or FSR online. The replay is great for us not on the east coast.

I tried to listen to M&M this morning - found myself switching to NPR in the middle of one of their predictable, like-watching-paint-dry, formula, boring ass interviews (Phil Mickelson), it was that bad.

The only thing I like about this is that my car radio is terrible and does not do well at receiving AM radio. I am happy that at least the Sports Reporters will be on 92.7 FM now.

Any chance that another station in DC will take up Fox Sports?

I am very upset by this. I refuse to listen to that M&M corporate crapola. It is so sanitized and generic it makes me sick. It really nauseates me when they go on and on about hanging out with/appearing with/etc famous people. It like listnening to "People" magazine, Ugh!

Can someone advise what xm hardware I should buy? I have several vehicles and would ideally like something I can take between cars, if that exists.

Instead of getting Czabe on more terrestrial stations, lets hope he moves to satellite so we can get more than 34 minutes per hour of actual talk.

ESPN-MM is like Friends-same characters every time, comfortable, safe....Czabe is like the Wire or Sopranos-takes chances, looks at thigns differently

Four years ago I bought a Delphi SkyFi II unit that fits into my car. I got a boom box that I keep here at work where the SkyFi II fits into and a home unit where I can plug the Skyfi II into the stereo I have at home.

The SkyFi II had been very durable in the time I have had it. Highly recommended

What a load of crap, now in the DC-Baltimore area there are 4 stations that carry Mike and Mike. I used to love listening to 980 in the morning on my commute from Arlington, VA to Baltimore. Now there is nothing for me to listen to at all in the morning for GOOD sports talk radio. How can they drop Czabe, Low Def and Scott? They are DC natives. And why does DC need 3 stations with Mike and Mike? What is wrong with the world?
