"High Chance of Blowhards"

link_hurricane_reporter.jpg

"It's not enough to report on a storm by showing TV viewers its impact. Dramatic as it is, the standard B-roll footage of pounding surf, wind-whipped palm trees and mangled power lines serves as a mere palate-cleanser. On storm stories, TV reporters are required to interact with the weather and become, potentially, human sacrifices to it.

This makes weather reporting different than every other kind of breaking TV news story. No one covers a house fire by rushing into the burning building, or reports on a war by doing stand-ups in the middle of a tank battle."

True, but nothing was funnier than the footage of Al Roker blowing around so much on a weather deck that a crew member had to hold onto his legs for him to make sure he didn't blow away...now that's some good stuff!!!

How's the weather, Ollie?

"IT'S RAININ' SIDEWAYS!"

Thank you, Ollie.

Living in hurricane country all my life, I watch these "intrepid" reporters out in the thick of the storm telling us how bad it is. Well no kidding Sherlock Holmes, a minimal hurricane has 74mph winds which will toss your ass all over the place. I don't wish permanent harm on these guys/gals, but wouldn't it be great t.v. if while doing a live shot a palm frond or a small piece of debris give em a nut shot on live TV?

On a related note Stephanie Abrams of The Weather Channel has a sweet rack. Google her and check out the grey t-shirt shot. Id pay PPV prices to see those sweater puppies soaking wet.
