Czabe,
Just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you and your entire morning team for what you do. Today could not have been an easy day to do a typical sports talk radio program. If the only sports talk program I knew about were Same & Same or something similar, I would imagine I’d have been treated to a combination of breathless discussion about some random college basketball game that took place last night (featuring a bunch of players I’ve never heard of), endless hype for an important regular season NBA game (oxymoron) they’ll be televising in the next 36 hours, and detailed analysis of the Australian Open tennis tournament (ugh!).
Just the idea of listening to this makes me cringe.
But instead, I got to listen to 4 guys who have chosen to let me into part of their lives discuss such banal subjects as the difference between AWD and 4×4, a discussion on how Scott’s new snow-blower worked out, the stupid things people do on the road when it snows, and the greed and hubris of the NFL — all while arguing when someone says something outlandish (daily), making fun of each other when someone says something ridiculous (hourly), and genuinely laughing when someone says something funny (constantly). Just like my friends and I would if we were together for any length of time.
Today was not a “great” or “spectacular” or particularly memorable show (except for Scott’s snow blower losing its cherry). Then again, there was nothing particularly memorable (i.e. “football”) on the sports calendar, either. Yet the show was delivered hot and fresh, with the consistency of a time-tested favorite restaurant. That is a form of excellence that is hard to achieve; harder still to sustain. And you and your team have been doing it for well over a decade.
Thanks for all you do and please pass my regards and thanks on to Scott, Solly, & Tim as well.
Best Regards,
Chris Ferrell
