…. some survey on the internet picks ME, Steve Czaban, as the 11th best sports radio host in the country!
Woooh hooo!
/looks in mailbox for bonus check
/slams shut in disappointment
Seriously, though, this feels alot better than being “Mr. 96” on the “Talkers Heavy 100” like I was the last go-round.
I’ll take 11. Not terrible company. Its just nice to be known. And for the record, I don’t know either Jason Barrett, the blog’s author, nor Tom Parker at the Fan in Milwaukee (although I am pretty sure he’s heard me plenty on Bob and Brian).
Barrett describes the comparison and the exercise with actual Program Directors facilitating his “mock draft” thusly…
I decided to try something fun and interesting by tracking down 32 programmers who I respect in this industry, and having them take part in the first ever sports radio draft. Using ground breaking technology (32 names in a hat) and a list of every single sports radio personality working on a local station or national network, I challenged each PD to select a personality who they found to be compelling, informative, entertaining, opinionated and someone they could win with if they had them on their airwaves.
You can read the entire list here, if you give a rats ass (and likely, you don’t.)
I know this much: it’s no skin off my nose to see some relative HACKS sitting ABOVE me on this list, for the simple reason that a few highly paid stiffs in the business are ranked far, far below… or NOT AT ALL!
Good Grief!! Someone would actually voluntarily listen to Stephen A. Smith?
well I thought I would have an ounce of respect for this listing but then when I got to # 5 and saw Steven “screamin'” A Smith I knew this list wasn’t worth the TP I wipe my a$$ with.
Keep up the good work though Czabe.
While I can complain about some ranked ahead, you always have to look at who’s eating your dust. You’ve beaten out some big names. And if this was the NFL playoffs you’d be in! Way to go Czabe!
Love It! My real hope would be to see you do color commentary on an NFL Game. You would probably get fired by halftime, because “This League” doesn’t want the truth or observational humor.
Thanks for sharing. Your willingness to talk about the industry here and on the show is entertaining for us geeks that like the business of sports.
Could have gotten better value trading down from #11 and picking up the Fabulous Sports Babe on Day 2.
The Fabulous Sports Babe: High motor and great run stuffer.
Smart decision by the suits to add Cooley and ditch the mostly annoying Andy. Big help to Steve “I never met a conspiracy theory I didn’t like” Czaban.
11 must be the magic number. J.J. Watt went 11th in the 2011 draft. Czabe is the Watt of radio!
I say “Booooooooo” to the programmers drafting Stephen A. and Mike Greenberg. In the famous words of Charles Barkley, “That’s turrabull”
Stephen A. Smith is ahead of you…don’t use this list when you go into contract renegotiations…
Smith @ #5!
This is an outrage! How do you intend to placate me?
How in the hell can SAS be ranked higher than The Czabe? Remember, you don’t have SAS without ASS.
I guess we’ll just have to turn the amps up to 11
Czabe goes to 11!
