Bob and Brian: Week of January 9th-13th, 2017

It sure was a busy week in sports! Not only did the Chargers bolt from San Diego (haha, see what I did there!) but they ended up changing their logo 3x after getting clowned on it mercilessly from fans on the internet.

Brian Nelson – aka the “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” also panned the logo, and the move in general. I still think the Onion article from 2006 where then-commish Paul Tagliabue announced that ALL 32 NFL teams had agreed to relocate to Los Angeles actually made more sense.

After all, if the NFL has become a strictly TV & Luxury Suite league – to hell with the rank and file fans! – then surely a market as large as Los Angeles can scrape up about 35,000 fans a week of each team from its estimated population of 17.8 million residents.

You get an even 35,000/35,000 split of fans per game (“home” team vs. “away” team) to fill the stadium. Companies are nationally based so they can fly in big shots to sit in the suites.

The only challenge is scheduling. That’s 16 games a week (potentially) in the LA “Soundstage” for the league to administer. So let’s see… 4 games on Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Monday!

As I say…. “DOABLE!”

Oh well… needs some work. In the meantime, if you missed my appearances with these cheese-fed knuckleheads… well… here they are. Enjoy!
